Gratitude Scavenger Hunt
Recognizing and expressing gratitude is not just a feel-good practice; it’s a vital boost to our health and self-care, enhancing our emotional well-being and resilience. While I often talk about the power of gratitude journaling on this blog, today I want to introduce a fun and interactive twist that allows us to engage with gratitude in a refreshing way.
Imagine embarking on a Gratitude Scavenger Hunt - an inspiring activity that invites us to explore our surroundings and uncover the people, places, and moments that fill our hearts with appreciation.
Join me as we step beyond the pages of our journals and dive into creative ways to celebrate gratitude!
Objective: To find and express gratitude for various things in your environment
How to Play
1. Prepare Your List: Create a list of categories or items to find or reflect on that promote gratitude. Here are some examples:
Something that makes you smile
A person who has helped you
An object that brings back a nice memory
A place that makes you feel calm
A skill or talent you appreciate in yourself
2. Set a Timer: Give yourself a set amount of time (example: 15 or 30 minutes) to find or reflect on these items.
3. Get Moving: Wander around your home, neighborhood, or a park (depending on where you are) and search for items that fit the categories on your list.
4. Reflect & Express: Once you've found items or thought of people/places that inspire gratitude:
Take a moment to write down or verbally express why you are grateful for each item.
Share your findings with a friend or family member, or share them on social media.
5. Gratitude Circle: If you’re doing this with others, gather in a circle at the end and take turns sharing one thing you found and why it matters to you.
Bonus Round: Incorporate a creative twist, such as taking photos of the items you've found and creating a gratitude collage or scrapbook!
Outcome
You’ll get some physical activity, foster a positive mindset, and gain a deeper appreciation for the world around you. Enjoy the hunt!
